Nobody expected or thought about it, but Ben Affleck is confirmed to reinterpret Batman in the DC Comics Extended Universe in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, the second film by Jason Momoa as the king of the oceans of this superhero world.
Through social networks, Jason Momoa revealed that Ben Affleck will be Batman in “Aquaman 2″‘; a signature that the two, the film’s staff, DC Comics and Warner Bros had well kept under lock and key so it would be a complete surprise to see the actor on screen when the film came out.
Unfortunately, the secret could not last long and the actors had nothing but confirmations. Jason Momoa explained via his official Instagram that several fans who were touring within the Warner Bros studios ended up seeing the two on the recording set, where there was also a Special Trailer for Ben Affleck on the set of “Aquaman 2″‘with the indications: “BA Necrus”.
While “BA” matches Ben Affleck’s initials, “Necrus” is a reference to the dark city that is part of Atlantis in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, a fact that was previously revealed by this film’s director, James Wan. In addition, he himself recorded the happy trailer and showed the face of Bruce Wayne’s performer to a few to simply say “Oops”.
After this incident, Jason Momoa and Ben Affleck could not hide the reality and ended up revealing on social networks that they were working together on “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, where they will reinterpret the great superhero duo formed by Bruce Wayne aka Batman and Athur Curry, aka Aquaman.
It is no longer a secret. This is what happens at Warner Brothers, when you step off the set and there are fans waiting for you outside. We try to keep it secret, “she said.
Ben Affleck’s return to the DCEU
After his participation in “The Justice League Snyder Cut”, Ben Affleck stated that he no longer wanted to be a part of the UEDC films and that the tape would be the last in which he would play Batman. Since then, he has been removed from this superhero world, leaving fans with a hole because he was considered by many to be one of the best Gotham Bats to make it to the big screen.
Fortunately, this was just a possible “stage” and the actor is back. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” would be his official return to the UEDC and it is rumored that he could also be seen in “The Flash” alongside Michael Keaton, who would also reinterpret his Bruce Wayne in that film. Although, for now, nothing is certain and we will have to wait for the official previews to know in a concrete way how it will be the great return of Ben Affleck in this universe.
