A live-action adaptation of ERAGON in development at Disney +

Disney + is producing an adaptation of the YA’s fantasy book ownership live-action series Eragon. The books come from the author Cristoforo Paolini and will serve as co-writer of the series, upon which it will be based The cycle of inheritance series with Eragon being the first of four books in that series.

The cycle of inheritance tells the story of “a farmer named Eragon who discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon he calls Saphira. Through their bond and the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider, an ancient order that had long been believed to have been wiped out by the evil King Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira set out to defeat Galbatorige and free the land of Alagaësia from his tyranny.

Eragon was self-released in 2002 and over the years has grown into an incredibly popular and successful series with over 41 million copies sold worldwide. There is no doubt that fans will appreciate this news from the series and Disney + is the perfect fit for this fantasy story.

This is not the first time the book has been adapted. In 2006 there was a movie made with Ed Speleers play Eragon, Rachel Weisz providing Saphira’s voice, Jeremy Irons such as Brom, and John Malkovich like Galbatorige. The film wasn’t very good, so it’s great that it can actually get a proper fit this time around!

Bert Salke will executive produce under his Co-Lab 21 brand, with the 20th television production.
