In addition to “Euphoria” season 3, Sam Levinson works on “The Idol ‘, a new drama series which it has in development alongside the acclaimed A24 and HBO studio. The first glimpses of this new project have already been revealed with the starring role of Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd, anticipations that have left the doubt about when it will be released on the streaming platform.
Originally, ‘The Idol’ was announced in late 2021 by Aber Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, and has since worked on the series as a producer, creator and star. Also, he has since made it clear that he would be working on this project hand-in-hand with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim.

The only detail that remains a complete mystery is that of the release date of “The Idol” on HBO Max, given that despite all the advances that have been made, it is not yet clear when it will arrive on the streaming platform. The official trailer only showed a “coming soon” and it is speculated that it may arrive at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, but it is not yet clear.
We’ll have to wait for HBO, Sam Levinson or The Weeknd to give any clues as to its release date or confirm when the drama series finally reaches Warner Media’s digital catalog to discover the intriguing story this series has to tell.
The intense thriller of ‘The Idol’ in the style of ‘Euphoria’
The story of “The Idol” tells the story of Jocelyn, played by Lily Jose Depp, a young woman who is just taking her first steps in the music industry as an emerging pop singer. On her journey through this artistic world, she will come across a man who will blow her mind (The Weeknd), who is also the owner of a club and also the leader of a sect.
Beyond this little synopsis it hasn’t been revealed, but it gives an idea of what kind of story it tells. Furthermore, the revealed trailer anticipates that at least visually it will have the Sam Levinson branding imbued with a touch very similar to what has been seen in all seasons of ‘Euphoria’. Although we have yet to wait for further sneak peeks that are more detailed with its intense drama, as well as its release date.
