James Caan, St. godfather elf Y problem The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, which made him a screen icon, announced his cause of death.
Caan, 82, died of a heart attack and coronary artery disease earlier this month, according to a country report.
His family announced his death on the actor’s official Twitter page in July.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Jim passed away on the night of July 6. he tweeted. “The family appreciates their love and deepest condolences and asks you to continue to respect their privacy at this difficult time.
After a decade in the industry, Caan rose to fame with back-to-back feature roles in the early 1970s. He earned an Emmy nomination as Brian Piccolo, a cancer survivor who ran for the Chicago Bears on ABC. Brian’s song Alongside Billy Dee Williams, as the other Bears outpacing Gale Sayer. The heart-warming tale of a tough friendship between the NFL’s early interracial teammates was the highest-rated TV movie of the time, garnering 32.9/48 shares and winning five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Program: Drama or Comedy.
In an interview with the Television Academy Foundation in 2011 (see here), Emmy winner Brian’s song Screenwriter William Blinn says, “Jimmy Jimmy. He always had courage and self-confidence. It’s very competitive. Edge in the best sense of the word. But he’s a man with all the advantages and disadvantages you could have.
Kahn followed this up with his most famous role: the fiery, violent and vengeful Sonny Corleone, the eldest son of Don Corleone (Marlon Brando) in the movie Francis Ford Coppola. Godfather Based on Mario Puzo’s best-selling film, the film won the Academy Award for Best Picture and is considered one of the greatest films of all time. Caan’s onscreen death in the middle of a hail of bullets is also considered one of cinema’s best.
