One of the coolest things about being at San Diego Comic-Con is access to exclusives found only here. You rarely find exclusives that need to be retired due to a content or brand error. Well, guess what? Chicken butt! Dungeons & Dragons: honor among thieves had to stop distributing his posters here due to a non-D&D element that went into the promotion.
When an eagle-eyed Twitter user acknowledged that the image of one of the monsters used in the poster is a blatant copy of the art used in the role-playing game explorer. Check out the post:
Oh my god … did the official D&D movie poster really erase the Pathfinder graphics? pic.twitter.com/DZf4AnuaOi

Now, before everyone goes crazy and says the Intellect Eater also exists in the world of D&D, that’s not what it’s said. The problem is that the art on the poster is a direct copy of the art used in the Bestiary Explorer by artist Paizo.
The D&D booth had to stop distributing this poster due to the problem. I was lucky enough to have one. This will ruffle some feathers, and rightfully so. These things go through many hands before they are realized and it is surprising that this mistake managed to make it through.
On a positive note, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves looks like a super fun movie and I can’t wait for it to hit theaters on March 3, 2023.
