Sure when one thinks of horror and cinema stories with real actors and actresses come to mind, however, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. Well, there are others too. animated horror movieswhich are equally or more dark and disturbing, but which hardly anyone knows.

Vampire Hunter D

Surely if you are a fan of the genre, you have heard of ‘Vampire Hunter D’, an animated horror movie unusual in its setting. The story was released in 1985, but the plot is set in the year 12090, where a half-vampire man is responsible for killing anyone on demand.

Dead space: fall

It is true that being based on the Electronic Arts video game series, this title is a little better known, however, ‘Dead Space: Downfall ‘is a horror film which has gone unnoticed, even for fans of the franchise, although its excellent animation makes it indispensable for fans of the genre. Blood: The Last Vampire

Let’s go back to vampires in this one Japanese animated horror movie’Blood: The Last Vampire’, taken from the manga of the same name, and which tells the story of Saya, the last of her bloodsucking sons, who must eliminate various monsters.

Fans of the magazine of the same name may have been familiar with Gerald Potterton’s sci-fi horror film “Heavy Metal”, a film that has even influenced modern titles like the Netflix series “Love Death + Robots”. A horror story like few others, and so brutal you will rarely want to see it again.

Dante’s hell

Once again we have a title based on the Electronic Arts video game, but which, in turn, is an interpretation of Dante Alighieri’s ‘The Divine Comedy’. “Dante’s Inferno” is an animation about the protagonist’s journey into the deepest pits of hell, to save his beloved.

Dear beautiful

Finally, we have a short film, but its length makes it quite unique. “Dear Beautiful”, directed by Roland Becerra, is a horror film about a zombie outbreak, but don’t be fooled by its premise, as it hides a plot that will definitely not get you to sleep for weeks.
