Blumhouse has released a full trailer for the upcoming slasher horror film about conversion therapy them / them, which is pronounced: “They-cut”. The film comes from the director John Logan (Terrible penny), and is the protagonist Kevin Bacon.
The story is set in an LGBTQIA + conversion camp and Bacon takes on the role of Owen Whistler. In the film, “several queer and trans campers join Whistler for a week of programming designed to ‘help them find a new sense of freedom’.”
It is explained that “as the methods of the camp become more and more psychologically disturbing, campers must work together to protect themselves. When a mysterious killer starts claiming victims, things get even more dangerous. “
Writer and director, John Logan, said: “them / them my whole life has sprouted within me. I have loved horror movies for as long as I can remember, I think because monsters represent “the other” and as a gay boy I felt a strong sense of kinship with those characters who were different, outlawed or forbidden, “said the writer and director. John Logan. “I wanted to make a film that celebrated queerness, with characters I never saw as a kid. When people walk away from the film, I hope they will remember the incredible love these guys have for each other and how that love must be protected and celebrated “.
The film will debut on Peacock on Friday 5th August.
