The creators of the series have already told Entertainment Weekly that they wanted to introduce more diversity. “For me and Miguel Sapochnik it was very important to create a series that was not just a handful of whites on the screen.”said Ryan Condal, one of the directors. “We wanted to find a way to give variety to the series, but we didn’t want it to be something of the last minute or, worse, something symbolic”.
Both directors leaned on the idea that it’s been more than a decade since the premiere of “Game of Thrones” on HBO, and things change. “We knew from the beginning that we wanted to change it”Condal explained. “The world has changed a lot since 2011 and so has the public. Miguel and I rethink how to create diversity in terms of cast, but without it feeling forced.but that it is something organic for the world already created “.
