Disney Studios is moving forward with its film adaptation of Neil Gaimanis the novel The book of the cemetery as they hired Marc Forster to direct the film. The film project was originally announced twelve years ago and has since gone through various stages of development with other writers and directors. There is a good chance it will happen with Forster.

Forster has already directed films such as Monster’s Ball, Stranger Than Fiction, Quantum of Solace and World War Z. He recently directed the upcoming film White Bird: a wonderful story. The book of the cemetery will reunite with Forster In search of the Neverland screenwriter David Mageewho will also write the script.

The book tells the story of Nobody “Bod” Owen, “a boy raised by ghosts and supernatural beings in a cemetery, including cemetery keeper Silas, after his family was murdered.”

I thought this was a great story and I think it will be a wonderful movie. Forester is a solid director and this will be a great project for him.

Here is a description for the book in case you don’t know what it is:

No one Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy.

It would be perfectly normal if he didn’t live in a vast graveyard, raised and educated by ghosts, with a lone guardian who belongs neither to the world of the living nor the dead.

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy, an ancient Indigo Man under the hill, a gateway to a desert that leads to an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleers.

But if Bod leaves the graveyard, he will be attacked by the man Jack, who has already killed Bod’s family. . . .

What do you think of Marc Forester’s direction The book of the cemetery for Disney?
