Warner Bros. started questioning all of this and wondered how organic Snyder’s Twitter army was, so they hired two cybersecurity investigative firms to look into it. Two reports were submitted and found that massive online support for the Snyder cut the movement was fueled, in part, by bots and inauthentic social media accounts.
They say at least 13 percent of the accounts that were part of the movement were fake. They explain that the average number of fake accounts that are usually found in any trending topic on social media is around three to five percent. Twitter’s public results state that the number of daily active accounts on the site that are “fake or spam” is less than five percent. So Snyder’s army got a little bit more help from the robots.
The report concluded: “After researching online conversations about The Snyder Cut Justice Leaguethe release, in particular the hashtags “ReleaseTheSnyderCut” and “RestoreTheSnyderVerse” on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, [the analysts] detected an increase in negative activity created by both real and fake authors. One identified community consisted of both real and fake authors who were posting negative content on WarnerMedia for failing to restore the “SnyderVerse”. Additionally, three top leaders were identified within the author crawl on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – one leader on each platform. These leaders have received the greatest commitment and have many followers, which gives them the ability to influence public opinion. “
I don’t know if you’ve had any encounters with any of Snyder’s toxic fans, but I sure did! It was always crazy to be attacked by them because you had a different opinion on an issue. For example, there was a time when Zack Snyder’s cut didn’t really exist, and when I mentioned it, fans would have attacked angrily. I still don’t think the Snyder Cut ever existed until WB gave it the $ 100 million to make it a reality. Hell, these fans have posted an image showing the decapitated heads of the DC Films president Walter Hamadaformer president of the WB Pictures group Toby EmmerichAnd Geoff Johnsand they were tagging their kids!
They also attacked WB President Ann Sarnoff, who called the trolling “reprehensible” and the report claimed “with most of the writers calling her a liar for the claim that there is no Snyder Cut in the film and that asked Warner Bros. to fire. The report goes on to say, “This means that a fandom amplified by fake accounts helped shake up a major studio and a final cost to Warner Bros. of over $ 100 million to re-release a movie that had already been bombed years ago.”
The report traces the whole drama of how Zack Snyder ended up losing Justice League and was eventually replaced by Joss Whedon, who apparently was involved in the film long before Snyder left the project. Before he was called to direct, he was doing rewrites and consulting on the film while Snyder was working on it. Eventually, Whedon resumed shooting a lot of things and the film turned out to be a disaster.
Rolling Stone spoke to 20 people from Warner Bros. who were involved in the original Justice League film and the Snyder Cut version, and most of them “believe the director was working to manipulate the current campaign.” But Snyder says, “If anyone was pulling the strings on social media fervor, it was Warner Bros. trying to leverage my fan base to bolster subscribers to their new streaming service.”
But one of these sources says that “Zack was like a Lex Luthor who wreaks havoc”. One story is about how Snyder didn’t want producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg attached to Snyder cut because they did not believe in his vision. He kept asking for their names to be removed, and when his requests were ignored, the director confronted an executive during the post-production process and threatened, “Geoff and Jon are shuffling their feet to get their names off. my cut. It’s pretty crazy to read these allegations that Snyder was orchestrating all this behind the scenes as a way to attack those people who stood in his way to the studio and to pressure others to do what he wanted or would have his fans come armed. after them. The report cites WB employees who are convinced that Snyder personally hired an agency to increase support for his project and then pulled back and acted like he didn’t know anything when this group of toxic fans went from launching. petitions to legitimately harass, abuse and bully people.
