There is no doubt that Wordle has become a very popular game. He has created various spin-offs, everyone knows what it is, it’s like Sudoku from the early 2000s. At least everyone has tried it. But was a physical version needed? This is the question that Hasbro and New York Times Games seem to have decided to answer with “yes”. Hasbro recently announced Wordle: The party game which will allow people to play Wordle “in a whole new way.”

In the physical version, you will need two or four players and it is recommended that they are at least 14 years old. Hence, a player acts as a Wordle Host who writes a Secret Word. Then, the other one to three players are given six attempts to guess the five-letter Secret Word. The fewest assumptions made scores the player with the fewest points, which means we’re using the golf score and the person with the fewest points wins the game. That’s right, it’s exactly the same game except one of your friends chooses the word and there’s a point system. A good number of people do this already, I thought with the whole thing “I only understood it in three hypotheses”. I was wrong?

Something I haven’t mentioned is that players write their guesses on dry erase boards and are given secret shields so that others don’t see their guesses. To the credit of him (I think), Wordle: The party game will have four different game modes: classic, fast, timed or team. I have no idea how the last three work, but it seems like maybe they aren’t that different. Adam Biehl from Hasbro Gaming said:

Ever since Wordle burst onto the scene, it has undoubtedly been a staple in the vocabulary of social and pop culture. We are more than excited to be working with New York Times Games to bring our game worlds together and extend Wordle in new ways.

Jonathan Cavaliere a Games for The New York Times added:

Wordle really brought us together and that’s what makes it so special. With each daily puzzle, we connect with friends and family through social play. At New York Times Games, we focus on quality crafted puzzles that everyone can experience together, which is why we’re so excited to partner with Hasbro to bring a fresh new format to Wordle’s global sensation.

I have no problems with Wordle. Sometimes I have fun and some spin-offs have been a blast. It served as a way to bring some people closer. She doesn’t envy him. I only question the need for Wordle: The party game. If this sounds interesting to you, I’d like to hear in the comments what impresses you. It will be released this October with an MSRP of $ 19.99. Pre-orders are now available through Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, and Target. I also imagine you could talk to your friendly local game store and see if they can get you a copy while supporting the local business.
