When Baby Yoda, aka Grogu, made her big debut in The Mandalorianthe hearts of Star Wars fans all over the world broke up. They fell madly in love with the adorable character and everyone wanted that Baby Yoda merch!
Well, the director of the classic 1984 film Gremlin recently shared his thoughts on Grogu’s design, saying his design was “blatantly” stolen from the Gremlin Gizmo character.
In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, he said: “I think the longevity of [the films] is really the key to this character [Gizmo], which is essentially like a child. Which brings me, of course, to the topic of Baby Yoda, which is completely stolen and is simply being copied. Without shame, I would say “.
Although there are similarities between the characters, this comment makes me laugh because the character Yoda arrived long before Gizmo! Grogu’s design is 100% Yoda’s design, but much much younger. You can’t really make a young character of Yoda’s race without him looking like Yoda!
So, on this I must disagree with Dante. While there are similarities, the Yoda design came before Gizmo and Grogu is just a younger version of that design. What do you think of Dante saying that Grogu’s design was stolen? Gremlin?
