Magnolia Pictures has released the trailer for its hit comedy. I love my father It will hit theaters on VOD on August 12 from writer-director James Morosini, which was released on August 5th.
Inspired by Morosini’s real-life experiences, the film follows Chuck (Patton Oswalt), a desperately estranged father who desperately wants to bond with his troubled son Franklin (Morosini). Locked on social media and worried for his son’s life, Chuck poses as an online waiter and starts communicating with Franklin. But things start to go wrong when Franklin falls in love with this imaginary girl (Claudia Sulewski) and wants nothing more than to meet her in person because Chuck unwittingly ruined his own son.
Lil Rel Hower, Rachel Dratch, Amy Landecker and Ricky Velez also star in the film, which made its world premiere at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for Narrative Feature. The film was produced by Bill Stertz, Oswalt, Sean O’Grady, Dane Eckerle, Phil Keefe, Daniel Brandt and Sam Slater. Executive producers were Lauren Hantz, John Hantz, Jeremy Garelick, Dave Rath, David Bernon and Will Phelps. Production companies were Hantz Motion Pictures, American High and Burn Later Productions.
