Disney took over Dean Fleischer-Camp to direct their next live-action remake Lilo & Stitch. His name may not sound familiar to you, but he is the director of the recently released independent film Marcel the conch with his shoes on. I haven’t seen that movie yet, but it looks like a very strange but fascinating movie.
The project was announced in 2018 with a promising Mike Van Waes write the script. The study is now evaluating hiring Chris Kekaniokalani Brightwho is in final negotiations to take a look at the new script.
The original film is a wonderful film. It was set in Hawaii and told the story of the bond formed between a lonely young girl named Lilo and an adorable, yet dangerous alien named Stitch, who was designed to be a force of destruction. The central theme of the film is family bonding, but the story also includes Lilo and Stitch on the run from chasing aliens and social workers.
This upcoming film is expected to be a live-action / CG hybrid. I’m not the biggest fan of these live-action Disney remakes, but it will be interesting to see how Fleischer-Camp brings this story to life.
Some of you have seen Marcel the conch with his shoes on? Do you think this director will do a good job with the film?
