The world of the Amazon Prime Video series has been a hit with comic book fans and even those who don’t. And since the first season of “The Boys”, the parodies of Marvel and DC have not been subtle, so much so that as the episodes progress, we see more and more of these references.
Homeland and Superman
It is no secret that the protagonist and the villain of ‘The boys’ is a parody of the DC Comics superhero. And not just because of their similar costumes, but because Homelander and Superman have pretty much the same powers, they fly, X-rays, super strength, and of course they are the leaders of their respective superhero teams.
A-Train and The Flash / Quicksilver
The start of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series showed the speed of A-Train, a speedster that clearly references The Flash in DC Comics. However, due to the colors of his suit, he is also a clear parody of Marvel’s Quicksilver, which he could easily compete with.
Queen Maeve and Wonder Woman
Another of the greatest symbols in DC Comics is from Wonder Womanplayed by Gal Gadot in the UEDC, and which, of course, has its parody in the universe of ‘The Boys’, reflected in Queen Maeve, with her armor and tiara quite similar to the queen of the Amazons.
Black Noir and Batman / Deathstroke
In the case of Black Noir the similarities with Batman are several, being a character with a completely black suit, despite not having a cape. However, his abilities are more similar to those of Deathstroke, one of the DC villains who is also a great hand-to-hand fighter.
Boy Soldier and Captain America / Winter Soldier
In the third season of “The Boys” Soldier Boy finally made an appearance, played by Jensen Ackles, and who is generally compared to Marvel’s Captain America. However, his origin is more similar to that of the Winter Soldier, due to the use of the super soldier serum.
The Deep / Aquaman
Although in the comics of “The Boys”, The Deep is more of a Black Manta parodyIn the Amazon Prime Video series, Chace Crawford’s character is quite a mockery of Aquaman, who is played by Jason Momoa in the DC Extended Universe, and a lot of jokes have been made around him.
The rest of the parodies of “The Boys” for Marvel and DC
In the comic there are several parodies of Marvel and DC, however in the series of ‘The Boys’ so far we have seen the previous ones, together with those of the Crimson Countess, a reference to Scarlett Witch, Kimiko equal to the mutant X-23, Starlight a Stargirl and finally Stormfront a Storm of the X-Men. But it is expected that as the seasons go by we will see more parodies of the style.
