While “Stranger Things” dominates streaming, “Thor: Love and Thunder” sweeps theaters. Despite being released in various media, the Netflix series and the Marvel movie have one thing in common: the influence of the 1980s.
“Stranger Things” is set in that decade and is full of tributes and nods to 1980s cinema, and although Thor is set in the present, you can feel the spirit of that era, especially in the soundtrack. In its acclaimed fourth season, the Netflix phenomenon took the song to the top of the charts. “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, which plays in almost every episode and plays a very important role in the story. The song introduced the British singer to a whole new generation and skyrocketed to number 1 in sales, 37 years after it was released.

Well, it turns out Kate Bush would also star in the fourth episode of “Thor”, but was ultimately left out, and its director, Taika Waititi, seems a bit bitter about it. In an interview with NME, the topic was raised and the New Zealand director replied: “You mean how they messed up Kate Bush?”.
“I love that series”Waititi continues, “but As someone who feels they own Kate Bush’s music … I’m very angry! I became one of those assholes who say, ‘These guys have never heard Kate Bush in their life, they heard a song on a show! They don’t know Kate Bush! I know Kate Bush! “.
Waititi confirms that, in fact, he also planned to include several Bush songs on the “Thor: Love and Thunder” soundtrack and specifies one (which is not “Running Up That Hill”): “Yeah, there were a lot of Kate Bush songs that I wanted to put in. We were going to use ‘This Woman’s Work’, it would be in a really cool scene with the character of Natalie Portman.”. Finally, Bush doesn’t play on the “Thor 4” soundtrack, but other nostalgic bands like Guns N ‘Roses, ABBA or Enya do.
Extra scenes?
We might hear Kate Bush in a director’s montage of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder? According to Waititi, it doesn’t appear that this will happen. In the same interview, the director declares himself opposed to “director cuts” and reveals that his ‘Love and Thunder’ film lasts four and a half hours and there’s a reason we won’t see it: “The director’s cuts are not good”Waititi says. “I’ve been thinking about director cuts. I’ve seen a lot of other directors. They suck. Sometimes you have to check directors. What if I were to say, ‘Do you want to see my director’s cut? It’s half past four!’ , four and a half hours is no good. There are a lot of tea breaks, you don’t even have to pause it. “.
When asked to come up with that director’s “Love and Thunder” cut, Waititi says so “I probably have some other joke”but he thinks so if all those scenes were left in the editing room, it’s for a reason. “There may be a couple of deleted scenes [en el DVD, aunque ya no se usen]but as I always say, a scene gets cut because it’s not good enough to be in the movie. “
“Thor: love and thunder” is already in the halls.
