What is the difference between Hughie’s powers in “The Boys” series and comic? – Amazon Prime Video (courtesy)
During the three seasons of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series, Jack Quaid’s character changed his thoughts, concerns, and ambitions, which brought him to a place he never thought he was a part of. However, Hughie’s powers in “The Boys” were barely developed, contrary to the comics.
Curiously, Hughie’s changes in the series ‘The boys’ as for the comic there have been fewand beyond the fact that the image in the source material was based on Simon Pegg, who plays the father of Jack Quaid’s character, the Los Chicos member, in the Amazon Prime Video adaptation, it goes the same way as his namesake.
In both Garth Ennis comics and Eric Kripke’s series, At first Hughie has no powersand he’s just a guy with a lot of wit, who wants to take revenge for the death of his girlfriend at the hands of one of the members of the Seven, with the electronics skills he got from working in a shop.
Whether it’s the comic book or the Amazon Prime Video series, Hughie gets his powers from Temporal Compound V.which gives him superhuman abilities, but for only 24 hours, and which put him on the level of Homelander, as seen in the live-action ‘The Boys’ Erogasm.
The exploits of Hughie in “The Boys”
In the comics of ‘The boys’, Hughie has the powers and capabilities of superhuman durability, super reflexes, super strength, super regeneration and teleportation. Throughout the series, Jack Quaid’s character has only shown that he is capable of transporting himself, and anyone, to another place where they will appear naked.
Also in the Garth Ennis comic, it is Butcher who injects Compound V to each of the Boys, including Hughie, as it is the only means by which they can confront the Seven and gives him superhuman abilities and powers, contrary to what happens in the series’ The Boys’.
It is during a mission in which Hughie and Butcher must photograph Kix, a superpowered character, that the leader of The Boys injects Compound V to the boy, even against his will, knowing that is the only way they can have a fair confrontation. . But even though Hughie doesn’t have permanent powers, it’s his ingenuity that is carried over in both the comics and the adaptation.
