Jenny Han’s popular novel, ‘The summer I got pretty’, got an adaptation on Amazon Prime Video to tell what teenage love is like, but over the course of its story, you don’t just see what love stories are like at this age, but also how children stop being children and, moreover, gradually accept that everyone has become.
The story of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ tells how after so many years spent every summer with her mother’s friend’s family, a girl begins to be seen by others as a teenager and not as an extra girl. It is at this point that her relationship with her mother’s friend’s children becomes more than just a childhood friendship.
Although the main plot of this series of adaptations is about the love triangle between these young people; the message of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” it goes much further. After adaptation series about teenage love story become one of the most viewed productions on Amazon Prime Video, audiences who loved her story began to wonder if there will soon be another story of her on the streaming platform. Fortunately, there’s a good chance it does.
Besides the fact that Jenny Han’s original work has three parts, which gives the possibility that the other two installments can be adapted as well; Deadline revealed in June 2021 that the series had been renewed for a second season long before it even debuted in streaming. However, nothing has been said about its second part so far and we’ll have to wait for Amazon to reveal to us if the series has really moved on.
