There is no doubt that the Amazon Prime Video series is one that has given a fresh touch to a crowded genre of Marvel and DC Comics movies. But long before the figures of Homelander and Butcher will face off, there was a fantasy series where you could see the faces.
Before Karl Urban played Butcher in “The Boys”, he had starred in “The Lord of the Rings”, while Antony Starr (Homelander) starred in “Banshee”, a Cinemax series that can now be seen on HBO Max. However, the program where they shared the screen was “Xena: Warrior Princess.
In the late 90s, he debuted ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’, attended by Karl Urban and Antony Starr. But in the case of actor Billie Butcher, Xenaverse first appeared in the episode “Altered States”, where he plays Mael, the antagonist of the story.
During the 6 seasons of “Xena: Warrior Princess”, Karl Urban played four different roles. While Antony Starr, best known for playing Homelander in “The Boys”, played a centaur in “Xena: Warrior Princess”, which the protagonist, played by Lucy Lawless, saves in her first appearance.
Did Karl Urban and Antony Starr from “The Boys” see each other in “Xena: Warrior Princess”?
Although the appearances of Karl Urban and Antony Starr were recurring in the fantasy series, the truth is that the actors of Homelander and Butcher have never seen each other in “Xena: Warrior Princess”. And for Starr it was a bad performance in his career as he recently told GQ.
“You might see it in the episode; it was really bad. I saw Lucy Lawless in Auckland maybe a couple of years later and she said very politely, “Oh, that episode was very well rated, well done,” Starr said. After his participation in Xena, the Homelander actor took 4 years to land a new role, although he is now world famous for his “The Boys” series.
While Karl Urban had a slightly more successful career, with “The Lord of the Rings”, among other productions. Now, Homelander and Butcher share the screen and have even left one of the best comparisons in the third season of “The Boys”, which is about to end.
