The adaptation of the series of Field of dreams it’s no longer moving forward to Peacock, but the series isn’t dead. Universal Television is currently purchasing the project on other networks and streaming services.

The 1989 classic film is one of my all-time favorites and was based on a 1982 novel Joe without shoes written by WP Kinsella. I was curious about this series and whether the creative team were actually able to capture the magic of the beautiful story.

The series was set as a retelling of the film, which told the story of a farmer, Ray Kinsella, who hears a voice encouraging him to build a baseball diamond in his family’s cornfield that attracts the spirits of baseball players. dead, but the purpose of the field is greater than just watching old baseball players come back into play.

The series is said to “reimagine the blend of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the film so enduring and beloved.”

The show was ordered directly in series at the Peacock in August 2021. Michael Schur (The good place, the parks and the recreational activities) was set up as a screenwriter and executive producer, with Lorenzo Gordon, David MinerAnd Morgan Sackett executive production.

There is no information as to why the series was retired by Peacock, but I imagine it won’t be hard to find a new home.
