And it turns out this time Weaver plays a Na’vi named Kiri, who is none other than Jake and Neytiri’s teenage daughter.. A nice surprise, of course.

According to Empire, for Weaver, playing a teenage character through the magic of CGI and motion capture, it was an opportunity to bring out her inner child. “I think we all remember what it feels like to be a teenager”says the actress. “I definitely remember. I was 5’7” at the age of 11. I thought Kiri was going to feel weird most of the time. She is looking for herself. It was really exciting that Jim gave me that challenge. “.

For his part, Cameron believes “like an acting challenge, it’s a great thing”and adds, “We have an actress in her sixties who plays a character decades younger than her. Sig thought it would be a lot of fun. “. To get into Kiri’s mind, Weaver worked closely with a group of teenage girls, channeling their youthful energy into shaping her character. As a result, Cameron ensures that the actress is rejuvenated in real life too: “He looked younger, more energetic and never lost Kiri’s character during the motion capture process. Empire also revealed the first details of Kate Winslet’s character in “Avatar: A Sense of Water” this week. The Oscar-winning British actress is back on the water with Cameron to play Ronal, a Na’vi warrior, leader with Tonowari (Cliff Curtis) of the Metkayina tribe, which lives on the surface of Pandora’s vast oceans and will play a very important role in the new story.
