Emma Roberts joins Dakota Johnson in Sony Pictures’ upcoming Marvel film project Madame Web. Roberts also joins the previous cast Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced And Tahar Rahim. There is no information on who will play Roberts in the film, but I like it and I’m sure she will be fantastic in whatever role she plays.
The film is said to be the origin story of Madame Web, “a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see into the spider world itself.” In the comics, Madame Web is “an elderly blind woman with a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it difficult to move and breathe and, as such, is connected to a life support system that looks like a spider’s web. The clairvoyant character has precognitive abilities and once helped Spider-Man find a kidnapping victim.
SJ Clarkson (Jessica Jones And The defenders) directs the film, with Matt Sazama And Burk Sharpless writing the script. Previously they wrote Morbio, so … you know, it doesn’t bode well for the movie. But we’ll see.
