Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint rose to fame as Harry Potter, Ron Wealsey and Hermione Granger in 2001 and the trio has been in the public eye ever since.
It was truly magical to see the young cast members grow up throughout the eight films, but where are the former child stars now?
As Neville Longbottom star Matthew Lewis celebrates his 33rd birthday, he took a look at some of the cast’s most dramatic transformations of the year.
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)
Harry Potter was a curious child attracted to a world of magic and through which many millennia have come to love the world of magic.
Daniel Radcliffe was only 11 when he starred in the first film and is now 32.
The actor reunited with cast members from the Harry Potter film series for an HBO Max special titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which premiered on January 1, 2022.
His projects this year include the role of the villain in the action-adventure comedy The Lost City, musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and Charley Kringas in an off-Broadway revival of the musical Merryly We Roll. . .
Daniel also stripped naked for the Equus show in 2007.
Emma Watson Hermione Granger
Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, was the youngest of the three main characters from the first film and was only ten years old.
He was a lovely, witty and highly intelligent character who helped Ron and Harry immensely.
Emma is now 32 and has been ranked among the highest paid actresses in the world by Forbes and Vanity Fair.
The movie star was also named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine in 2015.
In 2021, there were several reports that the beloved actress was retiring, but she was seen reunited with her childhood friends for the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter: Hogwarts.
Rupert Grint Ron Weasley
Rupert Grint played the adorable Ron Weasley character in the movies.
He is Harry’s best friend and helps him in all his crazy adventures, as well as being a support for Harry in his difficult family life.
Since 2019, Rupert plays the lead role of Julian Pearce in the psychological horror series Servant, which has confirmed its fourth and final season.
It has also been confirmed that he will star in the Netflix series The Cabinet of Curiosities by Guillermo del Toro and in a new thriller Knock at the Cabin.
And, of course, the January meeting wouldn’t have been the same without Ron Weasley.
Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley)
Ginny is Ron’s younger sister and Harry’s love interest throughout the film.
When Bonnie Wright started shooting she was only nine and now she is 31.
Bonnie achieves a lot and works behind the scenes these days.
She was recently seen on This Morning talking about her new range of organic products.
She is an active spokesperson for environmentalism and plastic pollution awareness and spends much of her time raising awareness of these issues.
Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)
Matthew Lewis played Neville Longbottom in the first movie when he was only 12 and stopped being the unfortunate character he was in the film.
Most recently, actor Matthew, who turns 33 on June 27, appeared on the TV series All Creatures Great and Small, which aired on Channel 5 in 2020.
The show was renewed for a second season in December 2020.
He married Angela Jones in Italy in 2018.
The couple met in January 2016, when Lewis attended Universal Orlando’s annual Harry Potter Celebration event.
Harry Melling, Dudley Dursley
Harry Melling rose to prominence when he played Harry’s spoiled cousin Dudley Dursley in the film franchise.
The actor looks completely different from his teenage years thanks to his incredible weight loss.
Now 31, he admitted that fans no longer recognize him after losing weight due to a simple accident.
During an interview with People magazine, Harry said, “I think it was an unconscious thing when it started happening.”
Over the past decade, he has established his acting career through a variety of roles.
He starred in the superhero film The Old Guard and the psychological thriller The Devil All the Time, both of which were released on Netflix earlier this year.
Harry also wrapped filming in July of the film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s novel, The Tragedy of Macbeth.
