Special: Blacklist and Women in Film, Anna Brown in Los Angeles (garbage pandaaudrey rosenbergWild animals), Cristina Yar Lim (Giopo), Rebecca Christian (Sankofa Selahi), Sabeen Amanat Faruk (burn your idolsand Zoe Towner (great american highway) To provide six promising screenwriters with six promising career and mentoring opportunities for the underdeveloped gender as participants of the fifth consecutive artist residency.
For the first time since 2020, the residence will begin in late June with a weekend personal writing retreat in Los Angeles that will include intensive screenwriting and professional development sessions. Participants will meet later and receive feedback from writers, executives, and industry leaders working throughout the year. Creative mentors this time include Kirsten Kiwi Smith (legal blonde), Nicole Perlman (guardians of the galaxy), Graham Moore (pretend game), Granlund Gate (Lady and Tramp), Dylan Meyer (moxie), Michael Mitnick (Გ posted by), Ana Rossellini (winter bone), Jonathan Stokes (gringo) and Scott Myers (Enter the Story).

Biography: Anna Brown is a screenwriter and playwright with a previous career in clinical social work.

Scenario: Wild Animals
Logline: When a mysterious wild animal attacks a young boy who believes in a 19th-century island and farming community, Francis turns his family and his life upside down in an increasingly obsessive quest to find what he believes to be a mythical beast.
Biography: Audrey Rosenberg is an award-winning writer/director and USC graduate whose work has been featured at OutFest, Frameline, and NewFest. She writes non-traditional genre stories that explore the intersection of class and gender through emerging lenses.
Cristina Go Lim
Screenplay: GYOPO
Logline: When an 11-year-old premature violinist immigrates to the United States from Seoul with her newly single mother and troubled teenage brother, each member simultaneously pursues her version of the American Dream. But when he begins to destroy them, they must find a way to navigate the new world and save the family.
Biography: Lim is a Korean-American writer and director who explores the Asian diaspora through the eyes of immigrants and the first generation. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in screenwriting and directing from USC and graduated from the Yale School of Drama Directing Fellowship. After winning the SeriesFest female writing competition, she won a development deal with Kyra Sedgwick’s production company and is currently in post-production on her first feature film as a writer.

Logline: A neurotic graduate student reluctantly takes his late father’s place on an “ancestral voyage” by a black tour group to Ghana, West Africa, led by a mysterious spiritualist who became his personal guru after the death of his mother.
Biography: Rebecca Christian is an emerging writer and director based in San Diego, devoted to stories that are overtly black and women-centric. Rebecca’s screenwriting projects have progressed to the Sundance Development Track and the Austin Film Festival, and Rebecca is the culmination of artist development programs such as the MPI Short Film Lab and the #Startwith8Hollywood program. When not writing, Rebecca works as a Dula and as a certified breastfeeding teacher and counselor supporting families in Southern California.
Sabeen Amanat Farooq
Scenario: Burn your idols
Logline: Qassim Malik, a semi-successful Muslim writer, gets the chance to meet and interview his favorite author, Arty van Doren, as Arty is reportedly involved in a sexual violence scandal. Qassim’s week with Art is filled with tension and intrigue as Qassim delicately tries to uncover the truth about who Art really is.
Biography: Sabeen Amanat is an American Muslim writer, graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and was a finalist in several screenplay competitions, including the Austin Film Festival, and was selected to participate in the ABC/Disney competitions/MPAC. . Writers’ workshops. He currently lives in Los Angeles and writes a children’s book called “The Worried Flower”.

Biography: Zoe James Towner is a writer and director from Los Angeles, originally from San Diego, California. As a stone trans woman, Zoe is fascinated by genre films in which characters with deep secrets fight for themselves.
