TOP GUN: MAVERICK surpasses $ 1 billion making it the highest grossing film of the year globally

Top Gun: Maverick is still skyrocketing at the box office, having just crossed the one billion dollar mark. This makes it the highest-grossing film of the year so far globally, taking over from Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. It is the first film of the year and only the second at the time of COVID (after that of Sony Spider-Man: There is no way to go home with $ 1.9 billion) to reach that benchmark, and it did so without the help of China or Russia, which are two major markets.

After just 31 days in theaters, the sequel became Tom Cruise’S first film to exceed $ 1 billion at the worldwide box office. Over the holiday weekend, the film earned $ 160.5 million, also becoming the first film in Cruise’s 40-year career to exceed $ 100 million in a single weekend.

It was truly a stellar movie and I know the fans loved it. Much of the film’s revenue and stamina at the cinema are due to fans returning to see the film more than once and fans purchasing tickets to see the largest-ever movie on IMAX screens.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, Top Gun: Maverick is still in theaters and is definitely worth seeing on the big screen!
