Here is the first trailer of the historical boxing drama titled Award winning, set in the early 19th century. The film tells the true story of a talented young boxer named Jem Belcher who struggles to become the champion of England.

Opaque hookswho also wrote the script, plays Jem and is joined by him Russell Crowe And Ray Winstone. Here is the synopsis:

Jem Belcher was born into poverty and raised by his grandfather (Crowe), a former boxer now struggling with addiction. Desperate to make a living and honor his grandfather’s legacy, he seeks mentor from a famous trainer (Winstone), who nurtures his natural talent and trains him to become the greatest fighter in the world. Jem is English champion and first in the world before an accident leaves him partially blind, resulting in a destructive fall. Jem must prove himself once again and fight the ultimate boxing champion in a brutal contest to claim his title once and for all.

It actually looks like a decent movie, but it’s the story that interests me the most. I’ll take a look! The film comes from the director Daniel Graham (Opera Zero And The Grand Duke of Corsica) and is also the protagonist Marton Csokas, Jodhi May, Giuliano Glove, Lucia Martino, Glen FoxAnd Ricky Chaplin.

Award winning will stream on Amazon Prime Video in the UK starting July 22, 2022. There is no US release date yet.
