‘Hercules’: The networks choose their ideal cast for the Guy Ritchie remake

At the moment, the only names associated with the project are all behind the scenes. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo (“Avengers: Infinity War”, “Avengers: Endgame”) will be the producers and Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) has been commissioned with an initial draft of the script. Although it’s still early to talk about the cast, networks began bombarding them with their suggestions for leading rolesin particular, obviously, that of Hercules.

The actors chosen by fans to play the role of the son of Zeus are very different. From Taron Egerton to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, passing through a rather muscular Daniel Radcliffe (also said for Wolverine) or a safe bet like Henry Cavill and his super strong Superman. Although for the strong Will Poulter, who will play Adam Warlock in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and who also plays to star in Hercules. One of the latest names to join the list is that of actor Zane Phillips (“Fire Island”), who after many mentions has volunteered to play the demigod, which shows how much this role will be in demand and media in the coming months.

Beyond Hercules

Of course, the demigod isn’t the only mythical character in the 1997 film. Villain Hades, known to be one of Disney’s best, is also on everyone’s lips looking for a charismatic actor who can embody the god of the Underworld.. Among others, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Grant or Bruce Campbell, who even supported this cast of fans through their social networks.

As for the role of Megara, a name that has been gaining momentum in recent years is that of Ariana Grande. after his short but famous cameo in “Don’t Look Up”. The singer already “played” the character covering Megara’s “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” for Disney Family Singalong, the company’s television special during the pandemic. Even so, the internet mixes other names like Elizabeth Gillies or Melissa Barrera.

In the case of Philoctetes, fans are not contemplating another option besides Danny DeVito due to his physical resemblance and that the actor has already given him a voice in the original film. Other characters one could fantasize about are Pain and Panic, Zeus or even The Muses, for which music stars like Beyoncé or Lizzo play; but what is clear is that Disney will have to choose its cast carefully as ‘Hercules’ is one of the most loved and respected films of Disney’s golden age. The project does not yet have an expected release date.
