Pietro Capaldi (Doctor who) And Cush Jumbo (The good fight) will star in a new crime thriller series titled Criminal record for Apple TV +. Capaldi plays Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Jumbo plays Detective Sgt. June Lenker in a story involving a “tug-of-war over a historic murder conviction.”
The 8 episode series was created Paul Rutman (Vera, Indian summers), and is described as “a powerful character-based thriller set in the heart of contemporary London. An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case: one a young woman early in her career and the other a well-connected man determined to protect her legacy.
The series is said to touch on “issues of race, institutional failure and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain”.
Jim Loach (Save me too, oranges and sun) directs the series.
