One of Batman’s most exciting things is that it can be modeled and reinvented in so many ways. Each new interpretation of Gotham’s dark knight reflects a different side of what fans love more than him.
With James Gunn Building a brand new DC universe, one of the biggest questions that fans have is what kind of Batman we will see this time.
Gunn eventually gave us a small mockery when it appeared on Podcast 2 Orsi, 1 cave. While you talk about the direction of the film out The brave and the boldGunn shared: “I like Detective Batman, but I also like the Batman fighter, it’s just the Brute who is fighting”.
That short but significant comment clarifies that this version of Batman will not only be a brilliant detective but also a brutal force in combat. It seems that we are for a rooted and without frills of the character who blends the brain with the muscle.
So far, the only look at the DCU Batman has come through a short cameo Commandos creatureGunn’s animated Max series.
In a flashback linked to Alan Tudyk’s doctor, fans identified the silhouette of a cumbersome Bruce Wayne. Since Gunn said that the characters of the Animated DCUs are canonical with their live-action counterparts, that scene gives us a small suggestion on the type of presence that Batman could have on the screen.
Visual details on his costume and design are still kept under the compresses. Fans are already discussing if this Batman should show off the classic white eyes seen in the comics and animated shows or if that aspect would be too little practical for live action.
Gunn, however, is not too worried about the surface level aesthetics. As he explained on the podcast, what really matters for him is the way Batman is played as a character and what journey he undertakes in this new universe, which will also introduce a more confident Superman played by David Corenswet.
He also revealed that there are internal conversations to the DC on the color of the cracks for Batman’s eyes. “Batman should have white eyes? This is a great topic of conversation.
“It’s like ‘guys, is this really what matters?’ But they are the things they care about.
“What matters is the character, the story and I think we now have a really beautiful story for what is happening with Batman.”
Gunn concluded his comments saying that he is enthusiastic about the story that DC Studios has planned for Batman. This alone should reassure the fans, even if the speculation on those who actually wear the cloak and hood in the brave and the bold will not slow down soon.
