The retro trailer of this week is for the 1985 film Night of the cometA gloriously unusual mixture of science fiction, horror and comedy that offers a post-apocalyptic story with a neon turn to the neon.
The film follows two sisters by Valley Girl, Regina and Samantha, who wake up after a mysterious comet sweeps most of humanity, transforming people into red powder or mutants similar to zombies.
With the streets of Los Angeles, strangely deserted, the girls prepare with machine guns and the fashion of the 80s and hit the shopping center, detonating the unskitable threats and conspiracy of the government with the same only fire power.
What Night of the comet Such a wild and fun tour is its absolutely unique tone. The comedy for teenagers and the apocalypse of zombies will mask as few films before or after.
It has large cytable jokes and strong and witty protagonists who are refreshingly capable without losing their charm of the Gollegum.
The film leans strongly on its campy atmosphere, but never feels lazy or launching. It is one of those worship classics that manages to be completely ridiculous and surprisingly intelligent, all immersed in that glorious aesthetic of the 80s.
