First trailer of Vicious unleashes Dakota Fanning in a twisted horror story

Paramount+ has just dropped the first official trailer for Vicious, the last horror nightmare from Bryan BertinoThe director behind Strangers. The film is intended for his world premiere at the Fantastic Fest 2025 at the end of this month before streaming on Paramount+ starting from October 10, perfectly timed for the horror season.

The film follows Dakota Fanning Like Polly, who receives a mysterious box from a late night visitor played by the always disturbing Kathryn Hunter.

The box is supplied with chilling instructions: place inside something you need, something you hate and something you love. From there, Polly is dragged into a terrifying spiral in which the twists and turns, the memories betray it and survival is reduced to impossible choices.

The official synopsis reads: “When Polly (Dakota Fanning) receives a mysterious box from an unexpected visitor late at night (Kathryn Hunter), is provided with a simple instruction: positions three things inside: something you need, something you hate and something you love.

“What begins as a strange ritual is rapidly revealed in a waking nightmare. Craised in a terrifying world where reality bends and memory betrays, Polly must navigate in a series of impossible choices.

“While time slips away, she is forced to confront the darkness not only around her, but also within her, before she consumes everything and all those who have ever known.”

Next to Fanning and Hunter, the cast includes Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, Devyn Nekoda, Klea ScottAND Emily Mitchell. Judging by the trailer, it seems that Hunter’s character could also be the victim of any evil is hiding inside the box. The configuration promises a left supernatural force that manipulates people in giving him exactly what craves.

Bertino seems to create another claustrophobic descent and unnerving in horror. The film is produced by Richard Suckle.

This trailer makes fun of a twisted concept that blends supernatural terror with the psychological torment, and looks like a perfect October clock for horror fans.
