David Ayer explains Batman’s controversial actions in the suicide team scene

“Or maybe with his traumatic past, Batman is doing what many people do: he is leaving the wreck behind him without being aware.

“Batman has always operated on the margins. He fights and arrests the bad guys to protect his wounded inner child? Are you just recalling the past from an unhealthy place? I love this type of debate.”

Ayer’s comments shed light on the emotional complexity that he intended to explore in the film, although the theatrical version did not capture it completely. The director repeatedly expressed frustration that the final cut of Suicide Squad It was not his real vision, which fueled the #releasetheyerircut movement in progress.

Fans continue to push for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios to publish his version of the film on HBO Max, even if official plans have not been announced.
