It is finally happening. The long -awaited first video video tomb Raider The series is officially in production and the iconic role of Lara Croft has been blocked. Sophie Turner (game of Thrones) is confirmed to enter the boots of the adventurer who trout the globe.
Phoebe Waller-BridgeWhich has been attached from the beginning, remains creator, writer and executive producer. Now he will share showrunning duties Chad Hodgethe mind behind Ribelli pines, Good behaviorAND The Playboy Club.
The production will begin on January 19, exactly three years after the first time that the news discovered that Waller-Bridge was developing the project with his agreement with Amazon MGM Studios.
Join the creative team is Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shōgun, drug thief) who will direct and produce executive products. The series comes from Amazon MGM Studios, Story Kitchen and Crystal Dynamics, the study behind the legendary video game franchise.
Waller-Bridge said in a statement: “I am so enthusiastic to announce the formidable Sophie Turner like our Lara together with this phenomenal creative team. It is not very often that you can make a show of this staircase with a character you grew up loving.
“Everyone on board are wildly passionate about Lara and are all outrageous, brave and hilarious as it is. You let your artifacts come out … Croft is coming …”
Turner, who recently starred in the limited series Joan and the thriller Trustit will also be seen in the next series The terrible. He shared his excitement on taking the role:
“I am enthusiastic beyond the measure, interpreting Lara Croft. It is such an iconic character, which means so many for so many – and I am giving everything I have.
“They are huge shoes to fill, following the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their power performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for all you to see what we have cooking.”

THE tomb Raider Franchising has long been one of the most iconic properties of the game, with Angelina Jolie AND Alicia Vikander Bring Lara Croft to the big screen in the past. Now, with Turner in the lead and Waller-Bridge driving the ship, the video Prime seems ready to provide a new bold chapter in the legendary Croft adventures.
The production starts in January and the fans are a step closer to seeing the return of Lara Croft in style.
