Todd McFarlane on meeting with Frank Miller after 25 years for collaboration for the new comics

A lot of time has passed, but comics legends Todd McFarlane And Frank Miller is back again. After 25 years from their explosive team of Spawn/Batman, the two titans of the comic world are collaborating once again, this time for The curse of Sherlae Johnson #3.

In an interview with the comic, McFarlane reflected on the beautiful old days when working together among the publishers felt effortlessly.

“When we were both returned to the late 80s and 90s, the formality of making comics was not there as if it were today in terms of people who started taking exclusive contracts and you only work with one [company]”McFarlane explained.”

At the time there were many friends who were friends, “Hey, I will make a coverage for you, make me cover for me.” And you really had to get any liquidation to a certain extent through the editors of the company, because you just exchanged the pages and did things, and it was much easier. And especially when exclusive came, it became hard. “

Their next collaboration involves a variant coverage for The curse of Sherlae Johnson #3which affects the comic shops on September 17th. Miller created a cover alone, while the second variant sees both creators who join forces for the first time in decades.

McFarlane admitted that it is wild that it took so long to reconnect creatively with Miller.

“When Frank and I did a couple of things then, and the great one, who was the Spawn/Batman, you know, it was just like,” let’s have fun together, right? “I mean, that’s all,” he said.

“We evoke a crazy idea and do it, and here we are now again, 25 years later. And again, it only brings you back to how,” we should have done it. “As, as you said, 25 years have passed.

The curse of Sherlae Johnson #3 will give fans the opportunity to see covers of solo and joint variants and McFarlane is eager to hear what readers think.
