‘Lightyear’ Review: Chris Evans, Voice of the Biggest Alien Hero in the ‘Toy Story’ Universe

The spinoff would definitely show up sooner or later. Did we need the origin story of Buzz Lightyear’s character? Toy Story? no but light year Angus McLain’s movie, of course, knows how to build a world around a character we only know from the Pixar franchise. The movie is about escaping, failing, and working together to achieve a common goal.

Buzz Lightyear (Chris Evans) is an enemy of time. He is a brave but often headstrong man who does not need anyone’s help. Such an attitude is the reason why, as a space ranger, he accidentally landed an entire colony on the planet and they couldn’t get out because the hyperspace glass was broken. They need a new one to get home, so the scientist creates a new one and has to test it. He fails on the first try, but realizes four years later that he will leave in the future. Thanks to his efforts, he recruits a cat named Sox (Peter Sonny) who is working on a new crystal formula. Buzz can’t handle this loss, so it tries and tries. In his final attempt, he returns to find his aging best friend, Commander Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba), who has an affair, marries, has a child, a grandchild, and is aging.

Now the people of the planet are trapped in a dome, where fierce alien robots float above and try to invade. Buzz finds himself outside the dome, where he meets Alicia’s granddaughter Izzy Hawthorne (Keke Palmer); Mo Morrison (Taika White); And Darby Style (Dale Souls). After all these years lost, Base still wants to be a hero, so he and his new friends try to save humans from the danger of an impending robot apocalypse.

light year don’t trust too much Toy Story He’s been known to build his own world, but could benefit from showing a connection to that part of the franchise instead of using title cards. both inside Toy StoryDespite his heroism, the quarterback finds a way to play well with others, and his various teammates are often more interesting than they are. Iz, Mo, and Darby have their own abilities that are useful for escaping basic problems.

The animation is beautiful and extremely realistic. Sometimes I couldn’t tell if it was animation or live action. The Art Department put a lot of effort into designing this world, its characters, and its robot. Kids will go crazy in this vast 3D world that represents one of Disney’s most beloved and famous characters. The only problem is that sometimes the story gets messed up and pushed back for almost as long as it started, causing more problems for Lighter and creating endless obstacles for him to be devoured. I understand that this is the core of every movie, but of course how many times will the story hit the bottom when it’s over? Fear.

What’s also unique about what McLain and co-writer Jason Hadley have done here is create all-black characters. Nobody acts like a frog, cat or bird. They have the right to be. Izzy is a well-established leader and has a versatile outlook that works for the outlook for the future, while Palmer is very energetic and fun to listen to. It may not be a big deal to some, but for someone like me, seeing the reins of one of my favorite movie genres gives me an advantage.
