The last season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds He gave us some wild swings, but the episode of last week, “A Space Adventure Hour”, brought fans to one of the most interesting directions of the franchise.
He dropped the crew in a stylized murder mystery of the 60s on the set of a science fiction show that looked a lot Star Trek: the original series. He was partially free, in part parody and while many fans seemed to have fun, I have conflicting feelings.
Guard Anson Mount Entering the role of “TK Bellows” was a clear nod to the creator of Trek Roddenberry Gene. Mount has done his homework and dived deep into Roddenberry’s person to play this character, studying old rodenberry ribbons to bring an authentic talent to performance.
Director Jonathan Frakeswho directed the episode, shared with varieties how much care went to build the character.
“I had the privilege of working with Gene for three or four years before dying. Anson and I started to really want to lean on Gene, and asked me to get some tapes that I was able to trace from the Roddenberry Association.
“We were really excited to do a gene, but I think [executive producers] Akiva [Goldsman] and Henry [Alonso Myers] I wanted me to not lean on it too strong. “

While the episode itself could have divided opinions, it was a clear love letter for the legacy of Rodcenberry, and Mount’s socket on the bellows was a performance with thoughtful strata that fans of the classic Trekking I will absolutely appreciate.
