The director of the weapons reveals the wild alternative ending that has never made the cut

Director Zach CreggerThe latest horror movie Weapons He got enthusiastic reviews, but it turns out that the public has almost seen a very different and much more brutal ending. In a recent interview, Cregger opened on an alternative ending he had planned before deciding that he did not adapt.

As he spoke with CBR, Cregger explained that he once had imagined a re -climatic rendering between Julia GarnerIt is Justine Gandy e Amy MadiganGladys Lilly who would have transformed the final act of the film into a total fight.

“Yes, I mean, I had an idea – this is a kind of spoiler territory – but that Mrs. Gandy and the child would go and would take their ideas … they would have used the tree”, revealed Cregger, referring to the disturbing flora that Gladys uses for his witchcraft.

He continued to describe the demolished ending, saying: “And they would go to collect people to be their small army, and then they would have starred with Gladys and his small army. So we would have had a kind of war of bands at the end and I really thought it was there that I was going.”

Instead, the theatrical version of Weapons It takes place very differently. The final audience saw Cary ChristopherAlex sneaks into Gladys’ room and exhibiting the ritual he had seen his tender do innumerable times. This breaks his control over children, leading to a vicious turning point as they get up and kill her.

In the end Cregger realized that the alternative ending could have been excessive and much longer than the necessary film. “I realized that that film would have been so long and also not so beautiful,” he admitted. Given how good Weapons He was welcomed by the release, it seems that his instincts were perfect.

It is interesting to imagine what could have been with a gang war fueled by witchcraft between Garner and Madigan sounds like pure horror chaos, but the final cut was great and clearly hit the right agreement with fans and critics.
