Thunderbolts* The director breaks the silence on the struggles at the box office and the reduction of the role of Olga Kurylenko

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* Launched in cinemas in strong reviews, but they are not up to the box office expectations. Despite a push to inventive marketing, the film concluded its theatrical race with less than $ 400 million globally, a disappointing result for what was expected would have been the new Avengers event.

The uphill battle of the film was not entirely unexpected. The roster presented characters known to fans of the Disney+ shows from Marvel, and difference of the avengers, the Thunderbolts* The brand did not have much traditional recognition. Now that the film is available digitally and heads to 4K and Blu-ray next week, more public could finally discover the team at home.

Director Jake Schreier He recently spoke with variety of theatrical performance and how he is developing the numbers.

“For me, it is so strange to try to understand how many people look at these things. It was really fun to go around the public projections. You can’t even take it for granted that you will get a theatrical release, so being part of a film that goes out there … it is really theatrical experience.”

He added:

“People can share it and talk about it and say what they think, whether he liked or do not do it, and then they continue, it is nice to be part of a film that can have that life.”

Schreier has clearly avoided dwelling on the box office figures and, honestly, he may not have much importance for him. It has already been used to direct the next Restart of X-Men by Marvel Studios, one of the most anticipated projects in the future of MCU.

The director also faced Olga Kurylenko’s Recent comments on his drastically reduced role. Kurylenko, who played Taskmaster in Black Widow, revealed that the return of his character Thunderbolts* He was knocked down to a cameo that ended with his death, something he learned after the production resumed after the strike.

Schreier explained:

“Yes, I think Olga spoke about it. It was something that happened after the strike, when we were redeveloping the script. I know there are people who have reached to let me know that they are discontented with this, and I understand it perfectly. It is not something we did slightly.”

“Obviously, I think Olga is a wonderful actress. It is a difficult thing to do. He is just showing that, for these characters, this is something that has been done and feel that their whole life does not have a lot of value.”

The fate of Taskmaster divided the fans, since some hoped to see the redeemed character after his mixed reception in Black Widow, while others are indifferent to his release. But initially he played a more important role that had been reduced … drastically.
