James Gunn’S Superman it is full of surprises, but one of the most unexpected revelations is presented in the form of Guardians of the galaxy alum Bradley Cooper Entering the role of Jor-El, his father Kryptonian of Superman, originally immortalized by Marlon Brando.
Gunn explained why Cooper in the role in the end, telling Entertainment tonight.
“I needed someone who could play Jor-El … who had the stature of what we imagine that that character was. Someone who could walk in the footsteps of Marlon Brando.”
It is not a small question, but Cooper apparently was ready for the challenge, thanks in part to his long -standing friendship with Gunn. The director added:
“Many times, Jor-El is played by a 70-year-old man, and this means that he was 70 years old when he had a child. So I wanted someone who was not too old … so I think Bradley was perfect, he did it for me as a favor because he is my friend and I really appreciate it that he did it.”
What makes this version of Jor-El particularly interesting is the turning point on the intentions of his character. Yes, it still appears as an hologram in the fortress of solitude. But this time, the message he sends with Baby Kal-El is not just a heartfelt greeting, it is a chilling education to conquer the earth.
That small bomb added a new layer of tension while Clark fights with his identity and place in the world.
Luckily, David CorenswetSuperman worked through his emotions and was not interested in interpreting the galactic dictator, no matter what his dad said. Also like Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hault) launches a propaganda campaign against him, the man of steel is more interested in protecting the land than to govern it.
