It turns out Spider-Man: No Way Home almost introduced Tobey Maguire AND Andrew Garfield Exactly in the way Reddit imagined that it would be, and that … it was the problem.
Director Jon Watts recently shared at the Mediterranean Film Festival that the strangely accurate piece of a fan art of Reddit forced the creative team to rethink the way the return spider-men would have entered history. There were no losses or photographing the photos that launched them was pure intuition of the fans. Watts said:
“We were writing the script and we were working on where we wanted to reveal the boys, and it always seemed that Peter would be sad because Aunt May has just died and that the portals will open and the two spider-men will come out. It is probably a roof somewhere. It is all a kind of optimist.”
But then Reddit approached too much for comfort. Watts continued:
“Then I was on Reddit and I was looking at people who had already done the fan art,” this is probably as it will be when the two spider men are revealed. “He was on a roof.
“It was sad, two Doctor Strange portals were open and two spider-men are leaving. I was like, ‘well, we can’t do it. If it is exactly what everyone thinks we will do, we can absolutely not do it.'”
So they rotated. Instead of revealing Tobey and Andrew during a gloomy scene on the roof, the film introduced them through the accidental use of Ned of a harness ring, transforming the moment into something more playful and unexpected, while maintaining the emotional fist for later.
Interestingly, that idea on the original roof was not wasted. It has been reduced for a different part of the film when the three spider-men meet finally face to face, perched over a hit pain Tom Holland. He offered the same sense of guidance and inheritance, but not in the way the fans thought he would do it.
The neighbor is Spider-Man: New day with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie SmashAND Jon Bernhal.
