Writer-director Asif Akbar’s action-spy thriller is based on the popular Masoud Rana novels written by the late novelist Qazi Anwar Hussein. The story details are kept secret, but we understand that Cricket will be playing Rana, codenamed MR-9, a foe of the enemy from the Bangladesh Counter-Intelligence Agency.
The film is an adaptation of the first original novel. Masood Rana: Dongsho Pahari (demolition hill). Hussein has published 550 novels in the series influenced by the James Bond series.
Bangladesh-based production company Jaaz Multimedia, Los Angeles-based Al Bravo Films and MR-9 Films teamed up to produce the film. Producers Al Bravo, Hemdee Kiwanuka, Colin Bates, Akbar, Philip Tan and Abdul Aziz along with Nico Foster, Peter Nguyen and Philip B. Goldfine are executive producers.
The script of the movie is adapted from the first novel by Akbar, Aziz and Nazım Ud Daula. Masood Rana: Dongsho PahariIt was first published in 1966.
