The first episodes of Ironheart Pull the curtain back on a Legacy character with deep roots in the MCU. That surprise is presented in the form of Alden Ehrenreichwho begins to play an apparently normal boy named Joe McGillicuddy, just to be revealed as Ezekiel Stane, son of Jeff Bridges’Obadiah stane from Iron Man.
It is an interesting connection with the film that has started the entire Marvel and Ehrenreich cinema universe is clearly aware of the meaning. Speaking with Screenrant, he opened for the first time to enter a role so closely linked to the origin of the franchise:
“Well, it’s nice to be part of something that refers to the entire legacy of history, especially because that character was in the first real film Marvel who started all this.”
He also shared a fun connection between his casting and another MCU icon.
“And I had just worked with Robert Downey Jr. [on Oppenheimer] When I got this part, and so I got to talk to him and it was nice. I just faceted with him, and I was like “so this came to my way, and this is the role: what do you think?” And it was like ‘yes, do it.’ “
As for the reason why Ezekiel Stane was chosen for Ironheartchief writer Chinaka Hodge He told the TV line that concerned the mining of the neglected corners of the MCU:
“It is a gem of a” suspended chad “in the story of Obadiah Stane. One of the best things in the MCU is how things connect, but I think that so many of the shots have been ahead or to other alternative MCU or universes, and it is very fun to go back.”
Hodge also suggested that Ezekiel’s journey could only start:
“Alden is so big in the role and the character is so funny. I expect, as a fan, he will live a long time.”
Having said that, it is not clear where exactly Ezekiel will open. With Wars of armor No longer on the immediate horizon, Ezekiel’s future in the MCU could be a waiting game. But if Ehrenreich’s opinion on the character resonates with the fans, don’t be surprised if Marvel finds a way to bring him back.
