The new Superman themed channels John Williams with a modern touch

In a press event in Manila for SupermanFans have heard a longer cut of the theme of the film. It is essentially a remix of John WilliamsIconic Superman: the film Fasses, now full of a thin electric guitar that adds a little modern bite while still honors the legacy of the original.

We have heard small pieces in the trailers, but this new version gives us a more complete tasting of what director James Gunn and composer John Murphy Mirano in the great restart of DC Studios.

Gunn has never been shy for his love for Richard DonnerThe original films and the legendary score that defined a generation. In fact, it was in advance in making the Williams theme a milestone of the restart from the beginning:

“I knew from the beginning what I wanted to do with music. I thought about it a lot,” will we do something completely different? We will use the [John] Williams’ theme? ”

“That soundtrack is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, and when I was a child, really … the thing I loved most of the film was music. This was the thing I brought home with me more than anything else.”

Instead of going to the full retro, Gunn and Murphy aimed at something that puts the needle between reverence and reinvention:

“But I knew we were doing something that was returning to the past, but also waiting for the future, and therefore it was a matter of finding that balance.

“John Murphy is a composer with whom I love working and started working on music even before the script was over … I said:” I want to use a version of the Williams theme, but I want to do our version “. So, this is what you feel.”

Remix’s decision instead of reinventing may not satisfy everyone, but it is undeniably effective in evoking the feeling of classic heroism and nostalgia with a new hand of paint.

Superman It is “set in a world very different from ours and far from the DCEU. The heroes have been in circulation for years and we will see how it has influenced the history of this world and has shaped the DCU”.
