DC Studios Co-Head James Gunn He seems to spend a lot of time on social media engaged with online fans, but he admits that his approach to debunking voices has changed, above all because he has become a boring game of Whack-a-mole.
Gunn said Entertainment Weekly:
“There are a couple of people, in particular, who have followed rather large ones who have constantly published false stories, only one after the other, 95 percent of the time.
“Maybe once on every 20 times, they say something that has a slight or partial base in reality. And it becomes old.
“I’m not sure, some of those people, who are not actually helping them in a certain sense of the debunking, because you are giving them traffic, which I always do, but I think he likes. So I have stopped mostly.”
Despite “mostly stop”, he clarified that Gunn will still stop when it is important, especially when the disinformation has the potential to hurt someone involved in a project. He explained:
“But every now and then there is a story that escapes quickly, which has the opportunity to hurt someone’s feelings.
“For example, if there is a director with whom we are talking about a project and suddenly a story comes out that so and so other director who has nothing to do with anything is doing this project, you want to kill him quite quickly because it is not true.
“Same thing with the actors or anyone. So if people’s feelings are at stake and there is something that is getting out of hand, I will close it.”
Gunn, who had previously done for its main walking ground, has since moved much of his involvement of fans to the threads, where occasionally he rapidly drops answers or clarifies speculation. Although it may seem that it is constantly online, it has clarified that its social media are a team effort.
“Listen, many of my social networks are made by other people. It is always me, they are always my words, but many times there are other people who are publishing it. And many other times, other people are bringing me offline questions from online and I will answer and I will send them those answers”.
As for when you could capture Gunn who actively responds in real time? Look for an explosion of activities every few weeks.
“You can see when I’m actually doing it, because there will be five, six answers in a row about once every three weeks.”
Noting that it usually happens when it is blocked in the car or on a long flight.
So, while Gunn’s hands are full of construction of a cinematographic universe, he is still keeping an eye on the mill mill and stops to put things straight when he feels he needs.
