After a recent report, that screenwriter emerged Hossein Amini he had come to rewrite Mike FlanaganScript for ClayDC Studios Co-Head and self-rose “Flanfan” James Gunn He intervened to put the record straight.

When asked directly from a fan on thread, “how much about Mike’s story are you going to keep?” Gunn replied:

“Eh? It’s the whole story of Mike. That’s why we are making this film, because we liked it. Any change like the shooting screenplay is aimed at minor. They are a flanafan.”

So if there were doubts about Flanagan’s vision still in the center of ClayConsider it crushed. Gunn’s comments confirm that the story remains intact, despite the voices of a complete rewriting.

This comes after Clayface was quietly illuminated by the end of last year, outside the initial announcement of the first chapter DCU, and since then it has been in a slow but constant development.

Things began to warm up again with the casting of White lines star Tom Rhys Harries in the main role. Gunn praised the choice, publishing:

“After a long and incredibly exhaustive research, we finally have our Clayface Dc in Tom Rhys Harries. Both Matt Reeves and I was swept away by this boy and we can’t wait for you to see this film.”

The film will be directed by James Watkins (The woman in black), and although it does not officially part of the guns and monsters of Gunn, and its exact positioning in the wider DCU is still a little a mystery.

Flanagan previously opened on the DC project and confirmed that his version of Clay was strongly inspired by the acclaimed two parts Batman: the animated series “Feat of clay” episode.

When asked if his script was inspired by it, Flanagan said: “Of course it was. I want to say it is the perfect [story]. “Feat of Clay”, Ron Perlman, for me, that’s all. That two sides put me out of combat. The short answer is that it is absolutely what inspired my script.

“This is the world I wanted to live in. Batman: the animated series When I was growing it was my Batman. As much as [Michael] Keaton was my Batman, the animated series was really my Batman. “

With Superman Arriving in July 2025 to officially launch the new DC universe, Clay It will follow just over a year later, bringing a little horror that changes shape to the mix when it will arrive in cinemas on 11 September 2026.
