This has been confirmed Bill Pullman AND Rick Moranis They are returning to Lone Starr and Dark Helmet in Spaceballs 2! This brand new film comes from Amazon MGM Studios and has previously been announced that Mel Brooks has returned as yogurt.
This is fantastic because I would never have thought that Moranis would come out of the pension for this, but he is and I couldn’t be more excited!
Add to the cast is Keke Palmerwhose role is still maintained in secret top. Amazon is not saying a word about who is playing or what the story is, but it is officially on board.
The sequel is directed by Josh Greenbaum (Barb and stars go visible for the sea) and written by Benji Samit, Dan HernandezAND Josh Gadwhich is also producing and is expected to be the protagonist.
The production team includes Brian Grazer, JEB Brody, Mel Brooksand Greenbaum, with Kevin Salter, Adam MerimsSamit and Hernandez who act as executive producers.
The film is described as “a non-retro-retro sequel not prequal starts two but with the expansion film of the elements restart franchise”.
So … interpret it as you want.
This marks a rare return to the screen for Moranis, which has been largely absent from Hollywood since the late 90s. He moved away from the acting to focus on the education of his children after the disappearance of his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky.
