In a new interview with Empire, Sweeney opened on what really attracted her to the project and her reasons are surprisingly practical and personal.
“I hadn’t made a studio movie yet and I had started my production company [Fifty-Fifty Films]. I had some properties that I really wanted to be able to bring to studies and I had to be able to get my name to have more value, within a family in the studio. “
It was a stratigical move on his part, not unlike a piece of chess that moved through the superhero table. Sweeney knew that to get her projects through the doors of the study, she needed to play and Madame Web gave her that possibility. It was an intelligent game and worked.

“I also wanted to be able to do something that my cousins can look at. I have a lot of cousins for teenagers, and they really don’t understand what I do. I thought it would have been so nice to be able to do something that they would actually think was fun and beautiful.”
I’m not sure how many teenagers thought that Madame Web was fun and cool, but of course, why not! I understand. There is something sweet in this. Not every concert must be the TV bait or prestigious Oscar, sometimes you just want your teenage cousins to finally think they are fantastic.

“I had a lot of fun, so it’s all that matters for me. I think if you like what you do, it really doesn’t matter what the result is, at the box office level. Of course, you want the film to be celebrated and loved and successful, because everyone is successful.”
