Set in a small and sleepy American city, the story follows two curious boys, Will Halloway and Jim Nightshade, whose lives are turned upside down when a mysterious carnival turns during the night.
The carnival, led by the accident Mr. Dark, promises to grant citizens their deepest desires, but at a terrifying cost. While the strange and supernatural events take place, Will’s father, Charles, a tired and regret librarian, has to face their past and convene the courage to help the boys fight the growing evil.
Mr. Dark prey the vulnerabilities of citizens, offering illusions of young people, love or second chance, while secretly stole their souls. Like Will, Jim and Charles discover the left truth of the Carnival, the story is based on a suspense and emotional climax, where the love, sacrifice and power of the human will find themselves against darkness.
With disturbing visits and poetic narration, the film offers a great mixture of horror and wonder.
