This new iteration exchanges New York’s determination for Tokyo, where the conflict between the police and the underworld dissolves in madness. As Neon says, this promises to be “unstoppably wild and unique”.
Miike said in a statement: “A team of incredibly talented actors and troupe gathered in Tokyo. Now. I’m about to launch a fast ball directly in the middle of your strike area – No tricks, no gimmicks. I am sure we are about to break through every limit, to create unforgettable entertainment. Prepare for the race with us.”
This will be a US-Gapan co-production, led by Jeremy Thomas for the company of recorded images, Sam Pressman For the film for printing Naoaki kitajima For Nippon TV, e Misako Saka For Olm. Neon will manage the theatrical release of the United States and international sales.
Manufacturer Jeremy Thomas said: “We are all happy to reinterpret this iconic IP with a master director like Takashi Miike. We produced 10 films in Japan, recently Grand Maison ParisWhich collected over $ 28 million at national level and is a fertile place to create and distribute films. I feel that time is right for this irreverent hybrid. “
Sam Pressman of the film Pressman added: “The director Miike brings a new vision without fear to the Bad lieutenantA character defined by the help. Just as Maestros Ferrara and Herzog have delivered radically different films like their own rumors, Miike’s adaptation is disturbingly wild and unique.
“My father Edward R. Pressman has always believed that this story of corruption, both of the police and the human soul, has a global resonance. To achieve this next evolution now in Tokyo with director Miike, Neon and his friend for my whole father Jeremy Thomas – all true believers in the power of independent cinema – is both an honor and a dream that has become true.”
If you are familiar with Miike’s filmography, you already know this will be a wild noir thriller.
