Here is a trailer for a Vietnamese vampire movie released entitled Residents . The film is set in the modern Saigon and the story is focused on Nhat, “A young vampire who grew up in a secret community of a river boat that suppresses his thirst for human blood.
“When his foreign brother tries it with freedom in the nightlife of the city, Nhat breaks the vampire law to protect a rebellious girl who discovers her secret, using a deadly chain of events.”
One of the first vampires films that emerges from Vietnam, from daydreams “messes horror, thriller and fantasy elements in an emotionally charged turning point on monstrous mythology with splendid visual effects and a powerful story of loyalty, identity and survival”.
The film was written and directed by Timothy Linh Buiand reads Who can, Trinh Thao, Thuan nguyenAND TRA NGOC GEW.
“I wanted to tell a story about people who live within the shadow of a modern city,” said Bui. “I have been inspired by the Vietnamese river communities, which have been there for decades and have been neglected by those who surround them.
“As a last stranger, vampires are the perfect vehicle to explore that world. They exist in secret, live on the margins and are defined by their need to remain hidden.”
The film opened in the Select Us theaters on May 2 with a launch enlarged to follow before hitting Digital on June 3 via Dark Star Pictures.
